At the District Convention there were three servant events available for the ladies to choose from.
Debbie Ramel led the card making with over 50 ladies who made about 250 cards. These cards went with Rev. Tom Fleishmann for the residents to use in the Sheboygan County Nursing Homes. Because of the inspirational verses, Taycheedah Correctional Institution will not except cards or anything with tape or glued parts (it's too easy to hide drugs, etc in them.)
Sandy Krainz (with the help of Peggy Buehler) conducted the bookmark making event and had approximately 25 ladies assembling them. Bookmarks were made for the ladies who accepted President Jan’s challenge to read through the Bible in the next two years. Fifty-seven women have signed up to meet this challenge. There is still time for you to join them - just send Jan an e-mail to let her know that you are interested.
Paula Duveneck led the tie tack event and they had approximately 35 ladies assembling the tie tacks. They made 720 tie tacks in about a half hour. They had fun because it was not a difficult task & ladies could “catch up with one another” while doing it. The ladies were encouraged to take two tacks with them; one to give away and one to keep. Keep in mind that you are being “one cent” to Peoria in 2011.
Our final event was eyeglass case making which was lead by Anna McNeil. Anna was assisted by Linda Bradley in the sewing of the cases as the ladies cut them. After one hour over 25 ladies completed 60 cases!
Thanks to all the ladies who participated in these events.
