LWMLer Meets LAMP Pilots. Submitted by Leitha Kraus. For the last two summers I’ve been a volunteer at the EAA Air Venture in Oshkosh, WI helping out in the Hospitality Pavilion. While I don’t have a big interest in aircraft, and they’d never let me near the flight line, I figured I could be pretty good at making lemonade and handing out cookies. It’s a lot of fun and I’ve met so many wonderful people from all over the world. At AirVenture 2009 I met two L.A.M.P. pilots. During our conversations I mentioned to them I was an LWMLer and familiar with the mission of L.A.M.P. Pilot, Dan Treakel from Fairbanks, Alaska, is an active missionary staff pilot and is well aware of LWML support to L.A.M.P. Dan has the words “Jesus Saves” painted on the bottom of his plane for all to see as he flies overhead. I thought this was a unique way of witnessing for our Lord. Retired L.A.M.P. pilot, Rev. Bill Kronen, told me that he was very familiar with LWML and had first hand knowledge of what our support means to L.A.M.P. He had actually flown a plane that LWML helped provide through mites. Rev. Kronen is from Rocky Mountain House, Alberta, Canada. Rev. Kronen was also a seminary classmate of Rev. Ronald Meier of Oshkosh who just happens to be the father of my pastor, Rev. Mark Meier of Emmaus Lutheran Church in Poy Sippi, WI. Small world isn’t it! Both pilots expressed gratitude and thanks to LWML for their support.
