One of the goals we placed before the SWD LWML is: To encourage every woman to stay in the Word. In keeping with that goal, I would like to challenge you to read the book of JOB with me. It is a marvelous story of Man’s troubles and God’s provisions. Please be sure to ask for the Holy Spirit to open the eyes of your soul before you read. I also encourage you to write down your answers in a notebook so you can review them from time to time.
Think about these questions as you read:
- What do you think of Job’s friends? His wife? Are they a great support?
- What were the things that made Job so miserable? What was the worst?
- What did Eliphaz and Job consider? Bildad and Job? Zophar and Job?
- Amid all of his troubles what great statement of faith does Job make in Chapter 19?
- Listen as God speaks to Job? Make a list of God’s provisions for the world as you read God’s words to Job. Really dig for the truths that God reveals.
- In the end Job makes a simple statement of faith. What do the words of Job 42:5 really mean? “My ears had heard of you before, but now my eyes have seen you.”
There is good news for Job after his trials read about it in chapter 42. What one truth will you take away from this book of the Bible? I will be at the Young Women’s Retreat at the Ramada Inn in Fond du Lac the weekend of February 6-7. Please take a minute to introduce yourself to me and share a little about this adventure we are taking together. If you cannot attend the Young Women’s Retreat,
send me an e-mail and share your thoughts with me.
The Holidays are almost upon us. What a great opportunity we will have to tell the story of the baby Jesus and how he grew into a man who paid the debt we could not pay. Take time to prepare yourself spiritually for this wonderful celebration, and see this miraculous birth in a new light. Another of our goals is to Be Joyful in our service to others and lead by Joyful example. May you all have a Joy filled Thanksgiving and Christmas and Let your JOY be evident to all.
Serving the Lord in Gladness,
Jan Dankwardt
