I recently received an e-mail (through this LWML website) from a woman who is a bi-lingual case worker for a homeless shelter for women of domestic violence.

She wrote,

During the holidays I went to Half Priced books and came across the “Lutheran Women’s Missionary League Two Year Journey Through the Bible.” After purchasing the bible, I googled LWML to find out more. The book was in excellent condition and I fell in love with it. My first thought was how well the book had been taken care of and then I wondered if it had been read to someone in a foreign land. This may sound silly, but I felt so special owning this particular Book of God. I showed the book to a Christian colleague, she stated what a beautiful book it was so I gave it to her, with an open heart; however, the next day I realized how much I missed reading it. I needed to have another copy.

I e-mailed her back and offered to send another bible but she replied, “Thank you for the offer, but I called a 1-800 number and spoke to a terrific young lady by the name of Katy who will be sending me several bibles. I wish I could find the right words to express how grateful I am to be receiving this wonderful Book.”

Working for a non-profit, we are not allowed to display any religious articles.  However, I do keep “Jesus Calling” out in plain view and I did have “Today’s Light Bible” out. As a social worker I need to wait for the client to speak of our Lord first. Once that happens, the flood gates open!! I will minister to the women and their children who have suffered from domestic violence. I’ve waited a long time to finally find my niche and the Lord has guided me here and to this particular bible. As I write these words I am thanking Him for guiding me to you and your church.

The Lord is faithful to His word and uses the work of His servants to reach out to others in many ways that we never know about. What a blessing for us to hear about this woman and our connection to her ministry through a project of the LWML.
