We are more than half way to the conclusion of the collection of mites for the 2010-2012 biennium. The Good News is we are more than half way there. We have, to date, paid four grants in full and Grants 4, 6 and 7 have had the first installments paid. We have some of the money reserved to make the remaining installments of the grants when needed. That means we are working on Grant 8, POBLO and the balance in reserve of Grants 4, 6 and 7.
That being said, it is now time to get busy filling out NEW grant applications for the 2012-2014 biennium. Applications can be found on our web page under publications and forms (or click here). They are due to Linda Christensen postmarked no later than Oct 31, 2011. The Human Care and Mission Grants committee is anxious to start compiling, cataloging and analyzing the new grant applications. Please be sure to fill out all the blanks and sign and date. We need five copies of the application. The grant must meet the following criteria:
- Extend the ministry of the Word.
- Be mission in emphasis.
- Fit into the plans and projections of the LCMS.
- Be current and ready for implementation.
- Be well documented with costs, dates needed, use of funds, etc.
- Be affiliated with an LCMS RSO or other LCMS entity.
- Continue after LWML funding to further a long-term mission.
- Wisely use mites to reach many.
