Following are suggestions offered by LWMLers through Facebook:
- Host a "noisy" mite collection. Kids and adults love tossing in all the noisy change. (Of course, you can also encourage "quiet money - bills/checks"). This is in addition to the regular mite box giving.
- Money found on the sidewalk and from the return of pop cans goes into my box. I have a mite-covered can in my car. When I go through a drive-thru I put the change in the can. (Once it goes in the can it can't come out if need change at the drive-thru the next time.)
- Mite box Sunday. We have the first Sunday of each month set up for it.
- When I take riders along to an LWML event, they all want to give me 'gas money.' So I hand them my round cup-holder mite box and say "fill 'er up!" I've found $20 bills in there!
- It's not very creative - but I LOVE when my husband empties his pockets, walks over to the Mite box and drops in the coins!
