The Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) has received the request, and paid, for the final $51,900 to the “Circuit Rider for Rural Northwest South Dakota.” The grant, from the 2007-2009 biennium, helped to establish a circuit rider ministry to reach isolated families in northwest South Dakota, giving them the opportunity for regular worship and Bible study in their homes. This grant payment, funded totally from the giving of mites from Lutheran Women in Mission across the country, completes all the grants from 2007-2009.

The LWML also made the final $50,000 payment of a $100,000 grant to Native Leadership Scholarships for Students Enrolled in Ethnic Immigrant Institute of Theology (EIIT). The 2009-2011 biennium grant provides for five scholarships and ministry stipends to cover a portion of the expenses for the Native men and women enrolled in the EIIT program.

In addition, partial payments have been made to two more of the current 2009-2011 mission grants: Lutheran World Relief has received $58,108 to help defray the cost to deliver more than 100,000 Lutheran-made quilts into the lives of those in need around the world; the Hope Center for Refugees and Immigrants in Ohio has been given $20,000 to assist the Center’s work through resettlement programs and ministry and the continued renewal of refugee and immigrant ministries of Lutheran congregations in Ohio.

You can help fund the remaining mission grants of this biennium! The LWML has already contributed over $1 million during the 2009-2011 biennium toward the mission goal established at $1.825 million. Your mite offerings, along with the contributions of other LWML supporters, will help to make this mission goal a reality by the end of March 2011. In addition to filling your Mite Box, you may also donate to the LWML in the following ways:
