Teen LWML Outreach Launched
Deb Kinne, Teen LWML Chairman, Named to National LWML Committee Deb Kinne of Neenah (zone 15), Teen LWML chairman for South Wisconsin, has been appointed to the national LWML committee that will guide the development of "Friends Into Serving Him." The mission of "Friends Into Serving Him" is to assist each young woman of the LCMS in affirming her relationship with the Triune God so that she is enabled to use her gifts to reach out to the people of the world. In other words, a "Friends Into Serving Him" group enables young women to work together to further God's kingdom through mission-related activities on all levels: local, district, state, national and international. This national organization is open to teen women ages 15-18 who are members of an LCMS congregation or who are in the process of becoming an LCMS member. The group will have its own web site with resources for members and a companion prayer book/journal to be used in conjunction with the web site material. In addition, there will be a designated section for Teen LWML in each issue of the LWML Quarterly, with information and articles just for teens. Also soon to be available are informational postcards and brochures, sweatshirt hoodies with the Friends Into Serving Him logo, an Italian charm, a journal and a hobo bag (a smaller sized backpack).
First South Wisconsin Group Started in Neenah In South Wisconsin, Deb Kinne has begun by forming a group in her own church, Trinity, Menasha. It now includes girls from two neighboring LCMS congregations also. Already they have gathered school supplies for U.S. troops to deliver to Iraqi children, participated in a work weekend at Camp LuWiSoMo, made quilts for a children's hospital in Neenah, and served dinner to 30 people at a Habitat construction site. The quilts were delivered during a Christian story-telling visit to the hospital. Assisting Deb Kinne are several women from her church, who, when they heard about this new initiative of national LWML, volunteered to help....and a few of them are not even LWMLers! SWD LWML President Carolyn Blum hopes that this will be a catalyst to getting some 'older-than-teenagers' Lutheran women to become involved with LWML, too! Deb is also be assisted by her 14-year old daughter, Angela. Deb and her subcommittee members will be working under the direction of the district LWML Leader Development Chairman.
For More Information Deb can be reached at 949 Bridgewood Drive, Neenah, WI, 54956, or by calling 920-720-5925. NOTE: The previously announced sorority name for Teen LWML will not be used because a group in Texas has legal rights to that name.
