God Uses Us in Spite of Ourselves
Martha Hartwig is a long-time LWML member who has been blessed to be part of four districts: Central Illinois, Iowa West, South Wisconsin and Iowa East. She has been blessed to serve in a variety of positions as God has provided opportunities. South Wisconsin will always be especially dear to her because of the loving support and encouragement she received there.
Martha currently teaches high school math in Iowa City, IA, but has taught all grades from preschool through high school. She and her husband, Jim, are thankful parents of Al, who lives in Middleton, Wisconsin and Eric who lives in Platteville, Wisconsin with his wonderful wife Amy.
God has pushed Martha out of her comfort area often enough for her to realize He always weaves blessings into frustrations. Little did she know how comforting her confirmation verse, Philippians 4:6, would be when she chose it years ago. The text is posted in her classroom: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”
